Weight Loss And Natural Weight Loss Supplements

Published

on

Natural weight loss supplements can be extremely helpful with an overall weight loss program. Embarking on a healthy weight loss program should include a diet of whole foods, a regular exercise regimen and herbal weight loss supplements.

Natural weight loss supplements are better for your weight loss efforts than diet pills. Many over the counter diet pills can cause the jitters, sleeplessness, increase your blood pressure and your heart rate. Natural supplements are made from all natural ingredients, mostly herbs and plants.

Natural products are mild and extremely effective. Some natural weight loss supplements are made from

Chinese herbs. The Chinese have been using herbs to treat disease and weight loss for thousands of years.

Natural weight loss supplements should be used as part of an overall weight loss program. Healthy weight loss consists of a three part approach. The other two elements to healthy weight loss include diet changes and a regular exercise program.

Dieting does not work. To lose weight in a healthy way and keep it off involves lifestyle changes. The most crucial change is switching to a diet of natural foods.

A diet of natural foods consists of whole grains, beans, vegeatbles and fruit. It is best to avoid processed and prepared foods. A diet of natural foods has benefits other than weight loss.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind.

1- Home cooked meals are one of the best ways to lose weight. It’s just common sense. Home cooked meals will contain less fat and more nutrition when prepared properly. Due to this you will be doing yourself more good than harm.

It is important to include whole grains, vegetables, beans and fruit. Your diet should consist of fresh food as opposed to

canned or frozen.

2- You should avoid fast food restaurants at all costs. These foods are highly processed and will only contribute to your weight and harm your health.

This first benefit you may notice is increased energy. Healthy weight loss can also reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and arthritis. A healthy diet will help to lower your cholesterol.

A healthy weight loss effort includes a daily exercise program. This does not have to be complicated. It should be something that you enjoy.

You can walk, jog, run, swim or ride a bicycle. Your exercise program can include tennis or golf. What matters is that you have some sort of regular workout program for about one hour each day.

An interesting aspect about this type of program is that the weight loss is effortless. When you focus your efforts on lifestyle changes instead of dieting, the weight will come off by itself.

The key to making all this work is to dedicate yourself to transforming your lifestyle. Your focus is not on dieting and losing weight. When you implement this idea you will be on your way

to your target weight and improved health.

snoring Treatment Tips & Cure

Published

on

By

If like me you sound like a bear growling a cave when your asleep, then you will no that snoring has a big impact on life. Regardless of the health issues (which are significant), snoring can play havoc with your relationship.

If you are at you wits end with being woken up every hour either to the sound of your own snoring, or being dug in the back and told to ìRoll Overî; or if you are the long suffering sufferer of a snorer, then read over these five tips to snoring treatment.

SNORING TREATMENT TIP 1.

Take a look at your diet. Although this probably won’t be the complete snoring treatment answer, it is worth starting with what you’re eating and drinking. You could well have intolerance to certain foods which affects your breathing, especially when lying on you back. For example, too much (or an intolerance to) dairy produce is likely to cause you to become blocked up with mucus, when horizontal, this collects causing heavy breathing and snoring. Alcohol is another common offender.

SNORING TREATMENT TIP 2.

Being overweight is another significant contributor. Excess weight in the neck and chest puts pressure on the breathing passage.

SNORING TREATMENT TIP 3

Sleep on you side or front. Now this is easier said than done, because itís hard to control your sleeping position when you are asleep! However, there is an old trick that may be worth considering. You could sow a walnut, table tennis ball or similar size object into the back of a shirt and wear that in bed. Each time you roll on your back it will dig into you, causing you to roll back again ñ providing you donít take your shirt of in your sleep.

SNORING TREATMENT TIP 4

Use nasal strips. I found these to be very helpful, at least to start with. Nasal strips (often used by athletes) open the air passage for you, thus removing or preventing blockages. If your desperate itís worth a try, but the cost can add up over the days, months and years.

SNORING TREATMENT TIP 5

I’ve saved the best until last. Exercising the muscles in your throat, tongue and doing breathing exercises can completely cure your snoring.

The Real Snoring Treatment

If your own efforts to stop snoring do not help, consult your physician or an otolaryngologist — or a doctor for the ear, nose, and throat. If you choose to try a dental appliance as a snoring treatment, you will need to see a dentist specialising in these devices. Some medical snoring treatments are continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), oral devices (including dental appliances and lower jaw positioners), and surgery.

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure consists of sleeping with an air mask to maintain continuous air pressure in the throat. CPAP is a treatment for sleep apnea, as well as for snoring.

A wide range of dental appliances, oral devices, and lower jaw adjusters are available to alleviate snoring. Some people experience significant improvement with these oral appliances, which bring the lower jaw forward during sleep. Most of the products fit inside the mouth, but some products on the market are worn around the head and chin to adjust the position of the lower jaw.

As far as surgery goes, Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty (TAP) treats snoring and various types of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The types of TAP include: laser-assisted uvula palatoplasty (LAUP) and radiofrequency ablation (or ìsomnoplastyî). Laser-assisted uvula palatoplasty (LAUP) vaporizes the uvula and a portion of the palate with a laser in the doctor’s office under local anesthesia. LAUP effectively removes obstructions to the airway, which may be causing snoring or sleep apnea.

Laser-Assisted Uvula Palatoplasty has a higher success rate than Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty for sleep apnea (UPPP), but it requires a surgeon with expertise in laser procedures. Radiofrequency ablation, or somnoplasty, shrinks excess tissue in the upper airway with a needle electrode. For snoring, the soft palate and uvula are reduced. For Obstructive Sleep Apnea, the base of the tongue is reduced. For chronic nasal obstruction, nasal turbinates are reduced. Somnoplasty does not require general anesthesia.

According to many experts, while other snoring treatments may help in cases of milder snoring problems, for heavy snoring, surgically correcting obstructive conditions in the nose, pharynx, or uvula may be the only solution.

4 Tips For Smoking Cessation

Published

on

By

Tip 1: Rise above the cravings

Imagine the cigarettes as crutches. Youíve always had these crutches to lean on and soon, it becomes impossible to walk without them. The important thing to learn is that as soon as you walk on your feet again, theyíll quickly regain strength. It may be a little known fact, but about half of what a smoker inhales from his cigarette is pure air. The next time youíre hit with a craving, take some deep breaths and relax. You will soon be able to rise above the craving, feel refreshed, and move on.

Tip 2: All the reasons to quit

Why do you want to quit? Do you have children? Do you want to live to see your grandchildren? Are you sick of the smell? Whatever your reasons are, write them down. Keep a daily journal of how you feel and in the very first entry list in bold letters every reason you have for quitting. List things like health reasons, expense, inconvenience, bad breath, or other reasons and make the list as long as possible. Also be sure to list how you WILL feel when you’ve kicked the habit.

Tip 3: The good, the bad and the ugly

After you complete your lists of reasons you want to quit and how youíll feel after youíve quit, make a list of the consequences of not quitting. Have other smokers in your family gotten cancer? Have they died? Do they have to speak through a hole in their neck? Will you be unable to pay off debt because youíre always buying cigarettes? Whatever you consequences, be sure to list all of them. As above, be sure to list the consequences (good consequences, of course) of quitting. Keep them to look forward to.

Tip 4: Break time!

Most smokers agree: a cigarette is a break. When quitting, give yourself breaks, but do something. Go for walk, eat a piece of fruit or drink some juice. This is critical because the body will be going through changes expelling all the accumulated poisons. The fruit will aid this process in many ways.

Good luck!

Medications Before and After Weight-loss Surgery

Published

By

Bariatric surgery changes many aspects of your life and medications are no exception. Most patients are prescribed certain medications and supplements after their surgery because they are at risk for nutrient deficiencies. However, the surgery can also affect which medications are safe to take for other medical conditions and how they are taken.

Individuals having weight loss surgery can expect their overall health to be thoroughly assessed before and after the procedure.

While the bariatric surgery itself, whether lap band, gastric sleeve or gastric bypass, can be highly effective at helping individuals to lose weight, part of the healthcare provider’s job is to help patients to address medical conditions that could become a factor for individuals. Medications can improve your health, reduce your symptoms, and potentially reduce risks.

At bariatric surgery centers around the county, the goal is to provide you with thorough care. You’ll get personalized attention to address the needs you have.

Targeting Your Health Risks

One of the first steps before bariatric surgery is a health assessment. It is our goal to address any underlying health conditions you have and work to provide treatment for those needs. You may need to take medications for the treatment of these underlying health conditions. This may include medications for:

High blood pressure: This is common in those who are obese. High blood pressure strains the heart and causes a higher risk for the development of cardiac risks including heart attacks. Many medications are available to address these risk factors and reduce the pressure present in the heart.

Type-2 Diabetes: Many people, who are overweight, are at a higher risk of having Type-2 diabetes. If you are pre-diabetic or diabetic, you may need medications to improve your body’s response to insulin.

You may need insulin injections or other blood sugar controlling medications. If you have diabetes that is untreated, you are at a higher risk of having a stroke or facing other medical conditions.

If you have other health concerns, such as high cholesterol, pain concerns, water retention or other ailments, we’ll work with you to customize a treatment plan that provides attention to these needs.

The underlying goal is to ensure all medical conditions are controlled as much as possible prior to having weight loss surgery. Even after your surgery, you may need to remain on these medications.

Medications After Weight Loss Surgery

When you are at the hospital, both before and after your bariatric surgery, you may be given medications. Those may include:

Acid reduction medications such as Omeprazole can help prevent ulcers and gallstones Multivitamins will be necessary in a high-potency, chewable form Calcium supplements will be necessary (from 1200 to 2000 mg a day) to prevent deficiency Vitamin D (800 to 1000 IUs) will be necessary You may be given B12 supplementation

You may take additional medications to treat any ailments you have, reduce pain or swelling, and to help avoid infections. These are given on a case-by-case basis.

Additionally, it is important to note you cannot take any type of extended release medications going forward. These will not work effectively for you after some types of weight loss surgery.

You’ll also work one-on-one with a dietitian to improve your nutrient intake while reducing calories. It’s essential to discuss any health concerns you have with your doctor before and after the procedure.
